What is prenatal screening?
The purpose of prenatal screening is, if you wish, to inform you about the possible presence of one or more disorders, so that you can make an informed choice from various screening options.
You can opt for two different forms of prenatal screening:
1. Screening for Down, Edwards and Patau syndrome using the NIPT (non-invasive prenatal test)
2. A structural ultrasound examination (SEO) at both 13 and/or 20 weeks, which gives you information about whether there are indications of physical structural abnormalities in the unborn child.
We would like to inform you about all the options for prenatal screening during your pregnancy, this information will be discussed during the intake interview.
It is important to read in advance the information we are going to discuss.
